ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Justin Davis found the back of the net for the first time in his Dutchmen career as the Lebanon Valley men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision at Nazareth University on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Flyers came out swinging in the opening period but the Dutchmen and
Gabriel Pigeon in goal were up to the challenge as they kept the game scoreless after an early barrage on shots on goal. The Dutchmen had their own great looks at the goal putting 10 of their total 12 shots in the period on goal. Nazareth was able to take a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal scored in the final minute of the period.
The Flyers came out of the locker room for the second period and put four shots on goal in the opening minute. Pigeon stopped all four shots to keep the advantage at one. Nazareth was able to score twice in a 56-second span six minutes into the period to increase their lead to 3-0. They made it 4-0 scoring 10 seconds after the Dutchmen killed off a penalty midway through the period. LVC fought back valiantly as
Darion Benchich,
Cameron Croteau,
Jordan Stear,
Mac Diver,
Dylan Miller, and
Blake Tosto all had shots saved by Matt Syles in net.
The Dutchmen were able to break through three minutes into the third period as Davis lit the lamp for his first collegiate goal.
Ethan Hoover was awarded the assist on the play. LVC kept the pressure on Sayles as they look to cut into the advantage further with
Jackson Legro, Harald Jirgens,
