Dutchmen Football Set for Rematch with Muhlenberg in Bowl Series

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley football team will close out the 2023 season on Saturday in the Centennial-MAC Bowl series with a rematch of last year's bowl game against Muhlenberg College. LVC will travel to Allentown this year to face the Mules for a 12 p.m. kickoff.

The Dutchmen qualified as the Middle Atlantic Conference second seed in the series with a 6-4 overall record and 6-3 mark in conference games. It is the first winning season for LVC since winning the MAC title in 2013. It is the first time LVC has played in the postseason in back-to-back years since a string of three straight ECAC Bowl appearances from 2009-2011. Muhlenberg is the top seed from the Centennial Conference after just missing an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 9-1 overall record and 5-1 mark in conference games. Last year the Mules used a big second quarter to pull away for a 48-21 victory on Arnold Field. The Mules are ranked 22nd in the D3football.com Poll and 17th in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
 
LVC is outscoring opponents 300-207 this year while also holding a 30:44-29-16 advantage in time of possession. Braden Bohannon has been a dual threat at quarterback rushing for 748 yards on 140 carries with 14 touchdowns. In the air he has thrown for 980 yards with six touchdowns. Dion Bryant has 536 rushing yards on 98 carries with six touchdowns. Alex Vassallo leads the team in receiving with 435 yards on 37 receptions with two touchdowns. Malaki Blair has 305 yards on 28 receptions with two touchdowns. Tim Kissinger has made 10 of 15 field goals attempts with a long of 50. The kicker is 34-37 on extra points and has kicked off 44 times for an average of 56.5 yards with eight touchbacks.
 
The defensive unit has been led by Jacob Horton with 69 total tackles including 8.0 tackles for a loss. The junior has 3.5 sacks, an interception, two pass break ups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Noah Caldani has been a force coming off the end with 58 tackles, 4.0 sacks, four hurries, an interception, a pass breakup, a forced fumble, and a recovery. Brody Robinson had intercepted two passes including returning one for a touchdown in the season opener against Franklin & Marshall College. Ryan Enright has forced two fumbles and recovered one for a touchdown while Jake Marcus leads the team in sacks with 5.5 for 40 yards. Evan Kutzler has picked off three passes to lead the secondary. LVC is ranked second in the nation with five defensive touchdowns and 10th in fumble recoveries with 11. Jeremy Bours Jr. is the best punter in the MAC and was voted as such by the coaches with an average of 37.54 yards on 39 punts this season. The senior has put 12 punts inside the 20, punted over 50 yards four times, and had nine fair catches.
