LVC Esports Weekly Report: October 22-28

10/29/2023 5:01:00 PM

ANNVILLE, Pa. – After a couple of weeks with little action, Esports saw all teams in competition this week as playoffs come closer.

Rocket League— Not including a forfeit win on Monday, Rocket League played in one match this week in NECC competition. They took on the University of Mount Union where the team dropped their first regular season series this year in a 3-0 defeat. This dropped the team to third in the standings as they take on first place Champlain College next week alongside Cincinnati in NACE play.

Valorant— After a 2-0 win last week, Valorant looked to get a third win in a row on Monday. They took on Messiah where the series was a quick 2-0 sweep for LVC. The series saw big performances from Andrew Houck who had a 4 K/D through the series while the Dutchmen won map one 13-2 and map two 13-0. They currently hold second place in their division at 3-1 overall and will face fourth place Cornell (3-1) on Monday.

Rainbow Six— Rainbow Six saw another two-match week as they looked to get ahead in the standings. On Tuesday, they took on University of Nebraska-Kearney in NECC play. The Dutchmen quickly got out to a lead they would never let go of as they took down the Lopers 2-0 in a series that saw every player of the roster have stand out moments. The momentum continued on to Thursday where the team saw action against Buter University. Map one started off hot where the team won five straight rounds and eventually took the map 7-2, to go up 1-0. In map two, Butler used their hot start to take the map 7-5. This took the series all the way to a game deciding map three on Oregon. In the back-and-forth battle, Butler did just enough to hang on and win the series 2-1. Rainbow Six fell to third in the NACE standings with three straight NACE matches next week paired with a NACE series on Tuesday.

Overwatch— After a bye week last week, Overwatch looked to get their first win of the season on Thursday. They took on Thomas More University in a short 3-0 victory for LVC. Captain Benjamin McDonnell played a major role in the win as the team looks to close the season out strong. They'll take on Pittsburgh Technical College next week.
