ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team outscored visiting Alvernia University 30-11 in the third quarter to hand the Golden Wolves their first conference loss of the season with a 74-64 victory in Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchmen (6-7, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) received a career game from
Kate Fitzpatrick and had three in double figures after a slow start. The Golden Wolves (10-5, 5-1 MAC Commonwealth) scored the first 14 points of the game. Lebanon Valley didn't allow a point for the final 4:41 of the quarter and used a 14-0 run over a span of 4:24 to tie the game up.
Riley Hevelow scored the first six points for the Dutchmen.
Cristina Fernandez ended the quarter with a big block, rebound, and buzzer-beating shot to even the score at 14. Alvernia began the second quarter strong and managed to build a 22-16 lead after the first three minutes of play.
Daelyn Stabler hit a jumper and then Fernandez converted a three-point play to cut the lead down to one with just under five to play. The Golden Wolves responded with a run of their own and took an 11-point advantage with 1:26 on the clock. LVC cut it down to seven at 34-27 at halftime on a bucket by Stabler and two free throws by
Jordan Zimmerman.
Lebanon Valley came out firing in the second half and quickly cut the lead down to two. Hevelow gave the Dutchmen their first lead of the game at 36-35 after knocking down two free throws with 7:46 left. Fitzpatrick and Stabler each hit a pair of free throws to give LVC a 40-37 lead before a
Samya Santiague three put the Dutchmen up six. The Wolves responded with a 7-1 run to tie the game up at 44. Fitzpatrick scored the next eight points and 11 of the final 14 points of the quarter to put LVC up 57-45. The teams traded scores in the fourth quarter with the Wolves cutting the lead to seven with 3:26 left before a three pointer and layup by Fitzpatrick put the game away.

- Hevelow finished with 14 points and nine rebounds including eight on the defensive end.
- Stabler scored 11 points and pulled down five rebounds.
- Fernandez had nine points and seven rebounds while blocking two shots.
- LVC held a 39-37 rebounding advantage and shot a season-high 45.6 percent.
