ANNVILLE, Pa. – Three different Dutchmen recorded their first career touchdowns on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field as the Lebanon Valley College football team dropped a heart-breaking 21-20 decision against visiting Lycoming College in non-conference action.
Lycoming (1-1) scored first on a six-yard pass from Elijah Shemory to Heath Jones in the opening quarter. The Dutchmen (0-2) came right back and tied the game up 47 seconds later on a
Dion Bryant 17-yard run. LVC took the lead right with 1:18 to go in the half when
Rylee Stahl caught a five-yard pass from
Braden Bohannon to wrap up a four-play 34-yard drive.
The Warriors tied things up on their second offensive play of the second half as Shemory found Brandon Timothy for a 60-yard touchdown. The Dutchmen responded valiantly once again driving the ball down the field 80 yards in six plays culminating in a
Malaki Blair 23-yard reception from Bohannon for the go-ahead score to make it 20-14. The score would stay that way until 10:27 left in the fourth when Shemory found Jones for his second touchdown reception of the day.
LVC drove the ball down into Lycoming territory in the final minutes of the game but the Warrior defense held strong and keep the Dutchmen out of field goal range before turning the ball over on downs to preserve the victory.
