Women’s Tennis Wins MAC Commonwealth Title Behind MVP Performance By Nicole Honrade

ANNVILLE, Pa. Nicole Honrade was named the Tournament MVP after leading the Lebanon Valley College women's tennis team to a 5-3 victory over defending champion York College of Pennsylvania in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth final on Sunday afternoon at the Shankroff Tennis Center.

The top-seeded Dutchmen (15-4) avenged last year's loss to second-seeded York (9-5) in the Championship. LVC won two of the three doubles matches and then took three of the six singles matches leaving one match unfinished after clinching the victory.

Inside the Box Score
  • Sarah Kramer and Eliana Shenk gave the Dutchmen their first point with an 8-5 victory at number three doubles.
  • Jacquelyn McBride and Honrade made it 2-0 with an 8-5 victory at number one doubles. York cut the lead to 2-1 after doubles with a win at number two.
  • Eliana Shenk cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at number six singles to win her 11th straight match.
  • Honrade moved the Dutchmen within one point of clinching with a 6-2, 6-2 win at number two singles. She improved to 11-2 in duals matches with the win.
  • McBride clinched the match point with a three-set victory at number one. She dropped the first set 7-6 and 7-5 in the tiebreaker before roaring back to win the last two sets 6-2 and 6-3.
  • The Championships is the program's third and first since 2018. It is the first time the Dutchmen have won the championship in Annville.
