ANNVILLE, Pa. –
Jacquelyn McBride and
Nicole Honrade teamed up in doubles and then were the first two singles matches to finish as the top-seeded Lebanon Valley women's tennis team defeated fourth-seeded Messiah University 5-0 in the semifinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
LVC (14-4) won all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead. The Dutchmen won the first set in all six singles matches before McBride and Honrade clinched the victory with wins at number one and number two singles.
Inside the Box Score
- McBride and Honrade were the first doubles team done with a quick 8-0 victory.
- On court three, Sarah Kramer and Eliana Shenk gave LVC a 2-0 lead with an 8-1 win.
- Meredith Haas and Madison Poladian battled for a big 8-6 victory on court two to sweep the doubles. The duo rallied from a 3-2 deficit to take a 7-5 lead. Poladian used a strong serve to win the final game in the match.
- McBride made quick work in singles with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at number one.
- Honrade then ended play with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at number two.
- Haas won the first set 6-3 and was leading 4-2 in the second set.
- Kramer won 6-4 in the first set and was up 3-0 in the second.
- Poladian took set one by a score of 6-4 and was tied at one in set two.
- Shenk battled to a 7-5 win in set number one and was up 1-0 in the second set.
- The Dutchmen will play in the Championship match for the second straight year where they will face second-seeded York College of Pennsylvania. The Spartans were a 5-1 winner over Alvernia in the other semifinal.
Who's Next
Lebanon Valley will face the Spartans at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Saturday at a time to be determined later in the week. The Dutchmen defeated York 7-2 in the first conference match of the season.
