Dutchmen Battle Weather, Presidents In NCAA Opener

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College baseball team made history on Friday afternoon as they hosted the first NCAA Tournament games at McGill Field in program history. The third-seeded Dutchmen fought through a three-hour rain delay in the second game of the day before the second-seeded Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College came away with a 5-1 victory in a closely contested game.

The Presidents (36-8), who entered the Tournament ranked 24th in the D3Baseball.com Poll, scored first in the opening inning and held a 1-0 lead when the game was stopped in the bottom of the third inning with a runner on third and two outs. Following the delay, W&J scored the runner on third to take a 2-0 lead. The Dutchmen (30-15) fought back and scored in the fifth. The Presidents added an insurance run in the seventh and then two more in the eighth.
