ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College Athletic Department celebrated the athletic and academic accomplishments of nearly 600 student-athletes during the 71st annual All-Sports Reception inside the Louis A. Sorrentino '54 Gymnasium. One of the longest-running traditions at LVC, this year's event included a new ESPY awards-style format and a new name: The Show: A Celebration of LVC Athletics.
Prior to the awards, senior student-athletes and their families enjoyed a reception. The event included a greeting by Director of Athletics Rick Beard '90 and opening remarks from LVC President Dr. James MacLaren. Seniors

Jillian Frenick shared senior reflections and memories from their years at LVC, while senior
Nicole Guadagnino and sophomore
Blake Tosto were the emcees for the awards ceremony.
In addition, 12 Dutchmen earned Distinguished Athlete accolades for earning eight varsity letters or receiving regional and/or national honors, while an impressive 105 student-athletes received LVC Scholar-Athlete recognition for being a junior, senior, or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The individual recipients of the major awards were:
Lou Sorrentino Outstanding Male Athlete Award –
Owen Buhr (men's track and field)
Buhr was named the MAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year this year and qualified for the National Championships in the 60-meter hurdles. He won four gold medals at the MAC Indoor Championships setting a championship record in the 60 hurdles. He was named the MAC Track Athlete of the Week eight times, earned All-Region honors in four events, and holds three school records. Buhr was also named the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete for men's indoor track and field.
Outstanding Female Athlete Award –
Lauren Wick (women's cross country and women's track & field)
Wick qualified for her second career cross country national championships this year and was named the MAC Runner of the Year after winning the MAC Championships. She led the Dutchmen to a sixth-place team finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships which is the best finish in program history. Lauren was also named the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete for women's cross country.
Honorable Judge John A. Walter Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Awards –
Caleb Cekella (men's soccer and men's track and field) and
Daelyn Stabler (women's basketball)
Cekella has a 3.98 cumulative GPA. He has been named to the Dean's List every semester, has been named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll every year, and was inducted into the Pi Mu Epsilon and Phi Alpha Epsilon honor societies. On the soccer pitch, he has scored five goals—including three game-winners—and recorded one assist as a midfielder. In three seasons, he has played in 46 matches and made 32 starts. Cekella finished third in the high jump as a first-year at the 2019 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships and then finished second at last year's championship meet. He is currently 10th on the program's Top 10 All-Time list in the high jump.
Stabler has a 4.00 cumulative GPA, has been named to the Dean's List five semesters, and the MAC Academic Honor Roll twice. She is a study pod leader and tutor, a member of multiple student organizations, and a first-year mentor. On the court she was third on the team with 9.4 points per game starting in all 24 games she played this year. Stabler scored a career-high 21 points in a 67-61 win at Widener to begin conference play. In her three years, she has scored 520 points in 56 games and recorded 298 rebounds with 130 assists and 128 steals.
Chuck Maston Memorial Award –
Josh Kline (men's soccer)
The Chuck Maston Award, the oldest continuous award given by LVC, is awarded to a male student-athlete who displays the ideals of sportsmanship, determination, and achievement.
Kline has a 3.5 GPA as a physical therapy major. He is captain of the men's soccer team and is a member of the Men's Soccer Leadership Council. Kline is a valley ambassador, a member of the physical therapy club, a peer tutor for anatomy and Spanish, and serves on the CURE Board of Directors as a meeting liaison. He has completed multiple community service projects.
Women's Sportsmanship Award –
Hannah Shirey (field hockey)
Shirey holds a 4.0 GPA as a secondary education English major. She was voted by her teammates for the team sportsmanship award. Outside of starting every game at midfield for the field hockey team, she is a first-year mentor, a Dutchmen First member, a peer tutor and writing mentor, an assistant editor for the school newspaper, La Vie, member of the English and Creative writing club, and a valley ambassador working in the admission office as a tour guide.
LVC Athletic Service Award –
Hannah McCurdy (women's track and field)
McCurdy is a captain of the track and field team. She went on a week-long service trip to West Virginia through her church to assist with rebuilding houses and cleaning up yards, participated in multiple blanket-making projects through the office of volunteerism, attended a Night of Service program, is the vice president of the Red Cross Club, led the Christmas Angel project for the track and field team, and participated in all of the track and field team community service projects.
SAAC Awards
The LVC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) presented team of the year honors to women's soccer and men's soccer. They honored Dr. Susan Weiss, assistant professor of education, as the Faculty Member and
Alison Wenger, content strategist, as the Staff Member of the Year.
