PIKESVILLE, Md. – The Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team saw their outstanding season come to end in in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with a hard-fought 5-0 defeat to Goucher College at the Coppermine Indoor Courts in Pikesville, Maryland.
The Gophers (13-7) won all three doubles matches and then two singles matches to clinch the victory. LVC (16-7) battled tough and won the first set in two of the singles matches that were in the third set when Goucher clinched the match. With only three courts available indoors, two of the matches never started.
Inside the Box Score
- Justin Schuetz and Adam Warren played an incredibly tight match at number one doubles eventually falling 8-6.
- Jeffrey Bauer and Brady McLucas dropped an 8-0 decision at number three doubles while William Harriger and Brendan Byler were dealt an 8-1 defeat at number two doubles.
- Both Schuetz and Warren won their first set 7-6 in singles. Schuetz won the tiebreaker 7-4 before dropping the second set 6-4. He was tied at 4 in the third set. Warren won his first set tiebreaker 7-5 before dropping his second set.
- Bauer battled to a 6-1, 6-3 defeat at number two singles and Byler played a hard-fought match at number four singles dropping a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
- Brady McLucas and Michael Schuetz did not start their matches at number five and six singles.
Who's Next
Lebanon Valley's amazing season ends with a 16-7 record. The MAC Commonwealth Champions had a .656 winning percentage in singles play during dual matches and .603 winning percentage in doubles.
