Six Dutchmen Put Goals Away in Road Contest at York (Pa.)

YORK, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's lacrosse team fell in a hard-fought battle to the York Spartans 19-10 on Saturday afternoon. Veronica Venezia put up a five-point game, as Brittany Hathaway followed tallying three points. 
 
Lebanon Valley (7-6 Overall, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) opened scoring on the afternoon with a goal from Venezia, assisted by Bailey Dills. York (Pa.) (8-4 Overall, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) then responded with three goals, until Venezia put her second goal of the game in the back of the cage with 5:32 remaining in the first quarter. The Spartans again responded strongly as they continued to dominate on attack and took the 9-5 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, York (Pa.) again dominated, netting four goals while holding a strong defense. Despite the Spartans' defensive efforts, Hathaway was able to dish out a goal with 32 seconds remaining, followed by a goal from Sydney Zimmerman with 12 seconds left on the clock in the third. As the Dutchmen netted three goals in the fourth, the Spartans put away six goals to finish out the matchup 19-10.

  • Venezia topped the points category overall in the conference matchup, tallying five points. The attacker dished out three assists and had two goals.  
  • Hathaway put three goals away, while grabbing five draw controls, two caused turnovers, and two ground balls. 
  • Julia Gabriel, Zimmerman, and Dills, all had a two-point game. Gabriel put two goals in the back of the cage, as Zimmerman added a goal and an assist. Dills put one goal away, tallied an assist, and grabbed a caused turnover and ground ball. 
  • Livia Jackson contributed one goal on the afternoon and picked up a ground ball. 
  • Julia Abendschoen made 17 saves in cage and picked up two ground balls. 
 
Who's Next
The Dutchmen will be on a short break from games for the next week but will be back in action on Arnold Field on Wednesday, April 20th, as they face the Mustangs of Stevenson University. First draw is slated for 7:00 p.m.
