Kiviniemi and Ralston Record Hat Tricks At Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.Alex Kiviniemi and Trey Ralston had three goals each in the Lebanon Valley College men's lacrosse team's hard-fought 18-10 defeat at the hands of host Eastern University on Wednesday afternoon on Olson Field in St. Davids.
 
Ralston gave the Dutchmen (7-5, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) a 1-0 lead 37 seconds into the game but the Eagles (4-7, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) responded with three straight goals. Eastern outscored LVC 5-3 in the first quarter. The Dutchmen scored two of the three goals in a defensive second quarter to cut the lead to 6-5 heading into halftime. The Eagles used a big third quarter outscoring LVC 8-1 to take a 14-6 lead. Both teams had four goals in the fourth.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Kiviniemi recorded his seventh hat trick of the year to give him a team-leading 29 goals on the year. Ralston recorded his sixth hat trick and second straight on five shots. The first-year also had a caused turnover and ground balls.
  • Ben Weathersby had another strong defensive game leading the team with five ground balls. The defender tops the squad with 68 ground balls on the season.
  • Colin Hughes another three-point game with one goal and an assist. The first-year has seven games this year with three or more points.
  • Jake Bollinger and Carson Frey also had multi-point games. Bollinger scored two goals while Frey had a goal and an assist.
  • Nick Serrano made 15 saves in goal for the Dutchmen.
  • LVC scored on four of their six extra-man opportunities. Defensively, they were successful on three of five man-down opportunities.
Who's Next
LVC will be back on Arnold Field this Saturday in the team's Crosse Out Cancer game. The Dutchmen will host sixth-ranked York College of Pennsylvania for a 1 p.m. start.
