ST DAVIDS, Pa. –
Anna Marie Hockman hit a two-run home run to left in game one and Julia Criag blasted a solo shot to right in game two of a sweep by the Lebanon Valley College softball team on Saturday afternoon at Eastern University. The Dutchmen won game one 6-1 and then took the nightcap 6-2.
Game 1
Hockman gave the Dutchmen (23-11, 10-5 MAC Commonwealth) the lead with her second inning home run.
Kylie Balthaser knocked into two runs in the third and then the Dutchmen added another run in the fourth. Eastern (18-10, 8-7) got on the board in the fifth with LVC responding with a run in the top of the sixth.
Inside the Box Score
- Hockman crushed her second home run of the year and finished the game with two hits.
- Sam Burns had a great game in the leadoff spot with three hits, two runs, and an RBI. She had two singles and a triple.
- Lexi Smith hit a run-scoring double to right as one of her two hits in the game.
- Balthaser also had two hits for the Dutchmen.
- Jordan Walter scatted nine hits and walked just one to earn her 13th win of the year. She did not let up an earned run
Game 2
The Dutchmen (24-11, 11-5 MAC Commonwealth) jumped out to a 6-0 lead with one run in the second, three in the fourth, and then a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Eastern (18-11, 8-8 MAC Commonwealth) scored a run in the sixth and then hit a home run in the seventh.
Inside the Box Score
- Jessica Truitt knocked in a pair of runs with a double to left center in the fourth. Burns then made it 4-0 with a single to left.
- Craig hit her first home run of the year in the fifth and then knocked in Burns with a single to left in the sixth.
- Burns had another multi-hit game with two. Craig and Lindsey McCurdy also had two hits in the game.
- Erin Sinatra pitched a complete game to earn her 10th win of the year. She struck out four.
- The Dutchmen finished in a three-way tie atop the conference standings but will be the third seed for next week's conference tournament based on tiebreakers.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen will travel up to Misericordia University on Monday afternoon for a pair of non-conference games to get ready for the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. The Cougars won the MAC Freedom Regular Season Championship with an 15-1 conference record.
