ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College softball team scored 10 runs in the first inning of game two to earn a split with visiting Widener University on Wednesday afternoon with a 14-0 victory in five innings. The Dutchmen clinched a spot in next weekend's conference tournament with the win. Widener won the opener 2-1.
Game 1
Widener (20-13, 6-7 MAC Commonwealth) scored their only two runs of the day with a two-out rally in the first inning. Malia Calciano hit a two-RBI double to plate the runs. The Dutchmen (21-11, 8-5 MAC Commonwealth) threatened to score putting a runner on base every inning. LVC broke through in the sixth with a

Inside the Box Score
- Lexi Smith had two of the team's seven hits in the contest for her team-leading 13th multi-hit game of the season.
- Julia Craig, Morgan Comfort, Jordan Hess, Forsythe, and Anna Marie Hockman all had a hit each.
- Smith and Comfort had a stolen base apiece in the game.
- After the first inning Jordan Walter shut down the Pride offense and finished with five strikeouts. She scatted two hits and walked one after the first inning.
Game 2
The Dutchmen (22-11, 9-5 MAC Commonwealth) put up 10 runs on the scoreboard in the first inning forcing the Pride (20-14, 6-8 MAC Commonwealth) to use three different pitchers in the inning. LVC added a run in the second inning, two in the third, and one in the fourth to set the final score.
Inside the Box Score
- Lindsey McCurdy knocked in the first two runs with a single up the middle. She had three hits in the game and knocked in three runs while scoring twice. McCurdy hit an RBI triple in the fourth inning.
- Smith had another multi-hit game giving her 14 on the year with two hits, two runs scored, and three RBIs. She knocked in two runs on a bloop single to right center in the first.
- Balthaser knocked in the 10th run of the first inning with a single to left and then beat out an infield single to third in the third scoring McCurdy.
- Craig had two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored while Hockman added two hits and two runs with an RBI.
- Danni Holmes and Sam Burns worked back-to-back bases loaded walks in the first inning.
- The Dutchmen stole six bases led by Smith with two.
- Erin Sinatra allowed just three hits and struck out two to earn her ninth win of the year.
- The win clinched a berth in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. LVC is currently tied for second in the conference standings with York, one game behind Messiah.
Who's Next
LVC will head to Eastern on Saturday for the final conference games of the regular season. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. in St. Davids.
