Ralston Grabs Sixth Hat Trick of the Season and a Five-Point Game

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's lacrosse team fell to the Messiah University Falcons, 10-14 on Saturday afternoon. Trey Ralston had a five-point game on the road, consisting of a hat trick.
 
Lebanon Valley (7-8 Overall, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) was the first to get on the board at 10:43 in the first quarter with a goal from Alex Kiviniemi. Messiah (7-8 Overall, 3-3 MAC Commonwealth) quickly responded back with four goals to take the 4-1 lead going into the second quarter. The second quarter was a battle between both teams on the offense and defensive fronts, but it was the Falcons who took the 5-3 lead into half-time. Messiah dominated on attack for the third quarter, outscoring the Dutchmen 5-1, taking the 10-4 lead into the final quarter. Despite the final six-goal effort from LVC in the fourth quarter, Messiah put away four more goals to clip the Dutchmen 14-10.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
  • Ralston led scoring for the Dutchmen with three goals, and handed out two assists for a five-point game. The first-year also picked up three ground balls. 
  • Jake Bollinger, Carson Frey, and Kiviniemi contributed three points on the afternoon, each netting two goals and tallying an assist. Frey also caused a turnover and snatched five ground balls. 
  • Ben Weathersby and Zach Wanous stood strong again for the Dutchmen on defense. Weathersby tallied five ground balls as Wanous picked up four while causing two turnovers. 
  • Nick Serrano made 15 saves in cage for the Dutchmen in the contest.
  • LVC went 19-21 on clears in the conference match-up including a 7-7 in the second quarter and a 3-3 in the third quarter. 
 
Who's Next
The Dutchmen will return to Arnold Field to face Widener University on Wednesday afternoon. Face-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
