ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team became the first team to clinch a berth in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament with a 9-0 sweep of Eastern University on Wednesday afternoon on the courts of the Shankroff Tennis Center.
LVC (10-4, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) earned their fourth sweep of the spring dropping just six total games during the match. The Dutchmen have dominated conference play so far going 26-4 in singles play and are undefeated in doubles.
Inside the Box Score
- Sarah Kramer and Abbey DeLisio were the first doubles pair to finish with an 8-0 victory at number two.
- Nicole Honrade and Meredith Haas weren't too far behind them with an identical 8-0 victory at number one.
- Eliana Shenk and Abbie Hoffer picked up a forfeit victory at number three.
- Shenk was the first singles match to finish with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number three. She has won her last eight matches.
- Madison Poladian won 6-0, 6-3 at number two singles to clinch the victory for LVC. Poladian is on a four-match winning streak.
- Jacquelyn McBride won 6-0, 6-3 at number one singles to improve to 8-6 on the season.
- Hoffer and DeLisio earned 6-0, 6-0 victories in their first conference matches of the year. DeLisio was the only student-athlete to play both singles and doubles for the Dutchmen.
- Rachel Merrill picked up a forfeit win at number six singles.
- LVC is now 13-0 against Eastern.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen will be playing for home court advantage in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament on Saturday with a trip to Messiah University. The Falcons are 3-1 in conference play this year and a win would clinch to top seed and regular season title.
