Dutchmen Smash Three Homers Against Immaculata

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College baseball team hit three home runs on Wednesday coming just one home run shy of the school record in a 12-8 defeat to visiting Immaculata University at McGill Field.
 
The Mighty Macs (17-6) scored seven unearned runs in the first inning. The Dutchmen (17-12) cut into the lead with a pair of two-run homers by Jace Fetterman and Shane Stossel in the first and second innings. Immaculata scored three in the fourth before Conor Smith hit a home run in the bottom of the inning. IU scored a run in the sixth and ninth while LVC rallied late with a run in the eighth and two in the ninth.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Fetterman blasted an 0-2 pitch to right field in the first inning for his third home run of the year. He has homered in the last two games. The first-year catcher had a career game with four hits in five at-bats, was a triple shy of the cycle, two runs scored, and four RBIs.
  • Stossel belted the first pitch he saw in the second over the left field wall scoring Andrew Miles to cut the lead down to three runs. The homer was his third of the year and the sophomore finished with three RBIs.
  • Conor Smith hit his fourth career home run and first of the season with a solo shot on the first pitch of fourth inning. He also had a double in the game.
  • Nico Santoro and Miles each had two hits in the game. The Dutchmen racked up 12 hits including two doubles, a triple by Miles, and three homers.
  • Tommy Moore Jr., Andrew Spaan, Brendan Landry, Michael Williams, and Bryce Eberly all saw action on the mound. Moore and Spaan had two strikeouts each and the five pitchers only allowed three earned runs in the game.
  • Ryan Murphy saved a run and gave the Dutchmen a huge double play to end the eighth with a rocket throw home after a flyout to right.
Who's Next
LVC will make the short trip to Reading on Saturday for a doubleheader at Albright College. Game one will begin at 12 with game two scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
