ANNVILLE, Pa. –
Ryan Petrucci blasted a pair of homers over the right field wall to lead the Lebanon Valley College baseball team to a 7-5 victory over visiting Gettysburg College on Wednesday afternoon at McGill Field.
Petrucci put the Dutchmen (13-8) on the board with a solo shot in the second. Gettysburg (9-11) tied the game up with a run in the third before LVC retook the lead in the fourth. The Bullets took their first lead with two runs in the fifth. The Dutchmen responded in the bottom half to tie the score back up at three. The sixth inning was big for both teams as the Bullets put up two runs in the top half before LVC scored three times in the bottom half. Petrucci then blasted his second homer in the seventh to set the final score.
Inside the Box Score
- Petrucci scored three runs in the game including his two solo shots. The sophomore now has three home runs on the season and in his career.
- Nico Santoro knocked in a pair of runs on two hits and scored on a wild pitch in the fifth. He had a big single to left in the sixth with the bases loaded to score the first two runs of the inning.
- Andrew Miles doubled down the line in left to score Shane Stossel from first in the fourth.
- Mike Bulgia drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth to score the go-ahead run.
- The Dutchmen used seven pitchers on a planned staff day by both teams. Malachi Duka earned the win with two strong innings. Jacob Horton pitched the ninth to earn his second save of the year.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen have a big weekend of conference play starting on Friday with their second game against York College. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on McGill Field as LVC goes for the sweep over the Spartans.
