Kiviniemi Leads the Dutchmen in Opening Conference Play Win Over Hood

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's lacrosse team took their win streak to three in their 11-5 victory over Hood College on Wednesday afternoon. Alex Kiviniemi led the Dutchmen in their opening conference win, netting four goals and tallying one assist. 
 
The Dutchmen (6-4 Overall, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) came out strong and was the first on the board with a goal from Jake Bollinger less than two minutes in, followed by a Kiviniemi hat trick. Hood (5-4 Overall, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) broke through to put three goals on the board in the last two minutes of the first quarter. Lebanon Valley went into halftime with the 7-4 lead and was able to keep the Blazers to only netting one goal in the second half. As the defense held Hood from getting on the board, Bollinger dished out two more goals for a hat trick, as Carson Frey finished the game out with two more goals to complete the 11-5 win. 
 
Inside the Box Score
 
  • Kiviniemi and Bollinger both had strong games on attack. Kiviniemi had four goals and an assist on the afternoon, as Bollinger contributed three goals and an assist. This contest was the third game in a row both players have recorded hat tricks. 
  • Evan Federowicz and Frey, both had multi-point games. Federowicz handed out an assist in the first quarter and put one in the back of the cage in the third. Frey dished out an assist to Kiviniemi in the third quarter and netted two goals in the fourth.
  • Ben Weathersby again held strong on defense. Weathersby tallied four ground balls and dished out two caused turnovers.
  • Nick Serrano had a great game against the Blazers, making 20 saves in the game.
  • The Dutchmen are now 8-1 in the series against Hood. 
 
Who's Next
Lebanon Valley will be on the road to Reading, Pa. to face Albright College with a three-game win streak at home. Face off for the MAC Commonwealth match-up is set for 1:00 P.M.
