ANNVILLE, Pa. –
Lindsey McCurdy had four hits while
Erin Sinatra and
Jordan Walter pitched a pair of shutouts to lead the Lebanon Valley College softball squad to a sweep of Albright College on Sunday afternoon in the first Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth games of the season. LVC won 3-0 in the opener and then 8-0 in five innings in game two.
Game 1
The Dutchmen (8-2, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board in the fourth with a run and then used back-to-back doubles by Julia Forsyt and
Sam Burns in the fifth to score their final two runs. Albright (0-9, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) scattered four hits against Sinatra.
Inside the Box Score
- Sinatra improved to 4-1 on the year with her third straight impressive pitching performance. The sophomore struck out 12 Lions and walked just one.
- McCurdy had a pair of hits in the game and scored the first run.
- Lexi Smith made four putouts and two assists at second base on the only two ground balls Sinatra allowed.
- McCurdy, Morgan Comfort, and Tori Hunyara each stole a base in the game.
Game 2
The Dutchmen (9-2, 2-0) broke things open with three runs in the third and four in the fourth.
Jordan Walter had another dominate pitching performance to keep the Lions (0-10, 0-2) off the scoreboard.
Inside the Box Score
- McCurdy knocked in the first run of the game in the third with a single. She finished with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.
- Julia Craig had two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Her triple in the fourth plated both of her RBIs. Comfort also hit a triple for LVC.
- Walter struck out five in the circle and allowed just four hits in the game to improve to 5-1 on the year.
- LVC won their ninth straight game heading into a big non-conference matchup on Tuesday.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen have another big test on Tuesday when they host Moravian for a pair of games beginning at 3 p.m. at the LVC Softball Park. The Greyhounds are undefeated at 12-0 and are ranked 16th in the most current NFCA Coaches Poll. Gettysburg was receiving votes in the same poll.
