ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's lacrosse team scored the first seven goals of the game and had nine different goal scorers in a 21-5 victory over visiting Elizabethtown College on Arnold Field Wednesday afternoon.
The Dutchmen (3-4) scored a season-high 21 goals and recorded 30 points while coming just three goals shy of the program record against the Blue Jays (1-5). 10 different Dutchmen recorded a point in the game while
Laura Tucker and
Alyssa Wene both scored their first collegiate goals. Wene scored her goal with 8:01 left in the second quarter to give LVC a 10-3 lead. Tucker scored in the fourth quarter to increase the advantage to 19-5.
Inside the Box Score
- Veronica Venezia had seven points on five goals and two assists to move into second in program history with 287 career points. She recorded her second straight five-goal game and sixth of her career. She scored three of her goals in the first quarter. Venezia also led the team with eight draw controls.
- Sydney Zimmerman continued her goal streak with a season-high three goals and two assists for five points. The junior has scored in every game this season and has recorded an assist in all but one.
- Brittany Hathaway totaled three goals and three assists with seven draw controls. The senior leads the team and is near the top of the MAC Commonwealth with 22 goals and 44 draw controls this season.
- Bailey Dills, Erin Zieber, Emily Beard, and Julia Gabriel all scored two goals each. Livia Jackson had her first assist of the year on Hathaway's second goal of the game in the fourth quarter.
- Julia Abendschoen made eight saves to pick up her third win of the season in goal.
- The Dutchmen posted a 50-17 shot advantage including 45-13 in shots on goal. LVC won 22 out of 29 draw controls and picked up 25 ground balls compared to 16 for the Blue Jays.
- This was the second straight win for the Dutchmen in the series against E-Town. LVC has now won three of the last four meetings between the programs.
Who's Next
Lebanon Valley will be off until next Tuesday when they make the trip up I-81 to Dallas where they will take on Misericordia University at 4 p.m. on Mangelsdorf Field.
