NEWPORT NEWS, Va. Brittany Hathaway and Veronica Venezia had five goals each to lead the Lebanon Valley College women's lacrosse team to a 15-12 road victory over 22nd-ranked Christopher Newport University on a rainy morning in Newport News, Virginia. The win is the first for the women's lacrosse program over a nationally-ranked opponent.

The Dutchmen (2-4) and the Captains (3-2) battled back-and-forth in the first half with LVC holding a slim 9-8 lead at the break. Lebanon Valley used a big third quarter in which they outscored the hosts 5-1 to build a 14-9 advantage. The Captains managed to cut the lead to 14-12 with just over two minutes remaining but the Dutchmen won the following draw control, ran the time all way down on the shot clock, and Hathaway scored with just under a minute left to set the final score.
