ANNVILLE, Pa. – Alvernia's Keon Taylor hit a turnaround jumper with 1.4 seconds remaining in double overtime to give the Golden Wolves an 84-82 win over Lebanon Valley men's basketball in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth tilt on Wednesday, Feb. 9 in Sorrentino Gymnasium. Taylor scored a game-high 29 points.
Both teams missed a pair of free throws at the end of the first overtime that would have won the game.
Alvernia controlled the second half, building a lead as large as nine, before LVC clawed its way back and pulled ahead 60-59 with 3:30 to play as
Collin Jones rolled to the hoop off a pass from
Zach Tucker.
With nip and tuck play down the stretch in regulation, LVC held a 67-64 advantage with 9.9 seconds to play. Alvernia's Malik Green drew a foul, made 1-of-2 from the line, and then scored on a rebound of an Avery Walker miss as time expired to send it to overtime.
Inside the Numbers
- Jones led all LVC scorers with 27 points to go along with 17 boards, which ties his career best. Timochenko also had a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. It's the first time this season two Dutchmen have registered a double-double in the same game.
- LVC's bench outscored Alvernia's bench 23-2.
