Bulgia Records Four Hits As Baseball Opens Season At 22nd-Ranked Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. – Senior Mike Bulgia had three hits in game one and then one hit in the nightcap to lead the Lebanon Valley College baseball team on Saturday afternoon in the season-opening games at Shenandoah University. The Hornets, ranked 22nd in the D3Baseball.com Preseason Poll fought off a ninth inning rally by the Dutchmen to win the opener 6-5 and then had two big innings to earn a 12-0 victory in game two.

The Dutchmen came out swinging scoring four runs in their first at-bats of the year to take a 4-0 lead. Shenandoah responded with a four-run inning of their own to tie things up. The Hornets took the lead with two runs in the fifth inning. LVC scored one run in the ninth and had runners on first and second before the Hornets were able to get the final out. In the nightcap, the hosts scored one run in the first, six in the fourth, and five in the eighth.
