ROCHESTER, N.Y. –
Shelby Guinard made a career-high 54 saves as the Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision at seventh-ranked and top-seeded Nazareth College in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday in Rochester, N.Y.
In their first-ever postseason appearance, the Dutchmen kept the high-scoring Golden Flyers scoreless in the first period before the hosts were able to score a power play goal at 14:47 of the second period. Nazareth scored again with 51 seconds left in the period to take a 2-0 lead.
Brenna Mulcahy scored her second goal of the year 2:27 into the third period to cut the lead in half. The Golden Flyers responded with a goal at 10:34 to set the final score.
Inside the Numbers
- Guinard made 54 saves for the third time in her career and second time this season. Both of her previous games with 54 saves occurred at Chatham.
- The Dutchmen held the Golden Flyers to one of their lowest goal totals on the season. Nazareth entered the game scoring 5.5 goals per game.
- Chloe Glass recorded a team-high three shots while Abby Radcliffe and Olivia Cindrich had two each.
- Katie Pounder, Sophie Trentini, and Cindrich all had six faceoff wins.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen finish one of their best seasons in program history with an 8-14-1 record. The team qualified for their first UCHC Tournament and saw a couple season and career records broken.
