BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
Alex Kiviniemi equaled his career-high of four goals while adding an assist and nine ground balls to lead the Lebanon Valley College men's lacrosse team to a thrilling 11-9 victory at Moravian University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Dutchmen (1-1) also received a strong game by
Trey Ralston who scored three goals for his first career hat trick in his second collegiate game. LVC raced out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter before the Greyhounds scored four in a row to take a 5-4 lead after the first 15 minutes. The Dutchmen used a strong defensive effort over the next two quarters to outscore the hosts 3-1 in each quarter to take a 10-7 lead.
Inside the Numbers
- Kiviniemi recorded the second five-point game of his career. He also had four goals and one assist last April at Wilkes. His nine ground balls are a career-high.
- Ralston played a big role in LVC's run during the second and third period scoring his first goal with 56 seconds left in the first half. He then scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter to give LVC a 9-7 lead.
- Carson Frey had two goals and one assist to record the 50th point of his career.
- LVC held a 49-35 shot advantage and a advantage in ground balls at 41-36.
- Nick Serrano had a great game in goal making 12 saves to earn the win
- The Dutchmen improved to 2-0 all-time against Moravian.
Who's Next
Lebanon Valley will be back on the road this Saturday with a trip to Doylestown to take on Delaware Valley University. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at James Work Memorial Stadium.
