ST. DAVIDS, Pa. –
Collin Jones,
Zach Tucker, and
Payton Lewis all scored in double digits as the Lebanon Valley College men's basketball battled top-seeded Eastern University to an 81-70 defeat in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening.
After a close first half, Eastern started the second half on a 11-0 run to build a 15-point lead. After the Eagles extended their lead to their biggest of the game at 64-44 with 12:35 left, LVC fought back valiantly and got the deficit down to eight points at 75-67 with just under two minutes remaining following a layup by Tucker.
Inside the Numbers
- Jones scored a team-high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He now has now scored 1,022 points at LVC including 494 this year.
- Tucker and Lewis had 13 points each. Tucker also did a great job distributing the ball with seven assists. Lewis knocked down a game-high three treys.
- LVC shot an outstanding 45.16% in the first half making 14 shots including four threes. The Dutchmen finished with 27 made field goals, their sixth-most in a game this year.
- The Dutchmen received 30 points from their bench tonight led by Lewis.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen finish the year with a 7-18 record playing with a youthful squad with 10 first-year players on the roster.
