ANNVILLE, Pa. –
Brittany Hathaway scored a career-high seven goals to lead the Lebanon Valley College women's lacrosse team to a 18-11 season-opening victory on Wednesday afternoon on Arnold Field.
The Flying Dutchmen used a strong first half, scoring five goals in each quarter to build a 10-3 halftime lead over the River Hawks. Hathaway scored three of her goals in the first half while
Veronica Venezia recorded five of her game-high 11 points in the first two quarters on three goals and two assists.
Inside the Numbers
- Venezia assisted on six of Hathaway goals and added five goals of her own. Her five goals equaled her career-high.
- The Dutchmen held a 33-27 shot advantage over the River Hawks and put 24 shots on goal.
- LVC had seven different goal scorers in the game. Sydney Zimmerman was the only other multi-goal scorer than Hathaway and Venezia with two goals.
- Julia Abendschoen made 11 saves to earn her seventh career win in goal.
- Erin Zieber led the defense with three caused turnovers and collected three ground balls.
Who's Next
LVC will be back in action on Saturday when they host Dickinson College on Arnold Field. Game time is scheduled for 11 am.
