Dutchmen Football Ends Season In Centennial-MAC Bowl Against Muhlenberg

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley football team played their first postseason game since 2013 on Saturday afternoon hosting Muhlenberg College in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. The visiting Mules used a big second quarter to pull away in a 48-21 victory over the Dutchmen.
 
Muhlenberg (7-4) scored first on their first offensive drive of the game going 52 yards on six plays. The Dutchmen (5-6) fired right back with a long 16-play 77-yard drive that took 9:26 and ended with a Tim Ervey one-yard touchdown run. The Mules retook the lead with a touchdown drive on the ensuing possession. LVC struck back once again with a 75-yard dive that took 6:44 off the clock and ended with Tanner Lewis finding Joe Underwood open for a seven-yard touchdown pass.
 
The Mules scored twice before the end of the half to take a 28-14 lead into the break. They would add a touchdown in the third quarter and then two more in the fourth to extend the lead to 48-14. LVC didn't give in and went 84 yards in four plays on their final offensive drive ending with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Gabe Puzzangara to Alex Vassallo.

  • Puzzangara was a perfect 3-for-3 throwing the ball on the final drive totaling 79 yards including a 54-yard strike to Jay Sisko.
  • Dion Bryant had a great day running the ball with 109 yards on 22 carries.
  • Erik Williams led the defense with seven tackles.
  • Evan Kutzler made a beautiful interception in the second quarter on a long pass down the sideline.
  • Abi Sweger kicked the final extra point of the game. She finished her Dutchmen career with an extra point kick in each of the final two games.
  • The Dutchmen ran for 164 yards on 46 attempts with one touchdown. They controlled time of possession 36:06-23:54.
