Women’s Basketball Falls to Penn State Schuylkill in First Game of Rinso Marquette Tournament

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team fell 60-54 to Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday evening in the first round of the Rinso Marquette Tournament. 
 
Lebanon Valley (0-2-0) trailed for the first few minutes of the contest against the Nittany Lions until they notched a 7-6 lead with 4:21 remaining in the first quarter. Both teamed battled, but the Dutchmen pulled out on top at the end of the first quarter leading 15-8. In the second quarter, LVC increased their lead to 10 with 8:39 remaining in the quarter. The Nittany Lions responded shrinking LVC's lead to five points, finishing the half with the Dutchmen leading 25-20. LVC continued to hold the lead in the third quarter, but the Nittany Lions chipped away to bring the lead down to only two points, with LVC leading 38-36. In the fourth quarter, Penn State tied the game 41-41 at 7:52 remaining and took their first lead since the first quarter at 7:08 remaining. The Nittany Lions kept the lead for the remainder of the game, taking their biggest lead with 1:05 remaining, leading 60-48 over the Dutchmen. Despite last minute efforts from Lebanon Valley, the Nittany Lions walked with the 60-54 win. 
 
Inside the Box
  • Kate Fitzpatrick led LVC with 19 points on the evening, while also grabbing three rebounds and two steals. 
  • Jordan Zimmerman put up nine points, all being three-pointers, and tallied three rebounds and two steals. 
  • Kailey Eckhart notched eight points and led the squad in the rebound column with five.
  • Kyrsten Joseph netted seven points for the Dutchmen and grabbed two rebounds. 
  • LVC put up 11 three-pointers and 19 field goals in the matchup.

The Dutchmen will face Penn State Hazelton in the Rinso Marquette Consolation game on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. in Sorrentino Gymnasium.
