HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team scored two power-play goals on Friday afternoon in their season opener against SUNY Canton. A late goal was the difference in a tough 5-4 defeat to the visiting Kangaroos at Hersheypark Arena.
LVC got on the board first as
Mallory Burdick scored her first career goal just over five minutes into the game. Canton evened the score with a power-play goal a couple minutes later. The Dutchmen struck right back as
Alexis Oukes found the back of the net on a power-play opportunity. The Roos tied the game up at two with a goal at 17:42.
Canton scored the first two goals of the second period to take a 4-2 lead.
Alexa Spiers scored her first collegiate goal in the final minute of the period to cut the lead in half.
Irina Brady tied the game up with five minute to go with a great power-play goal in the third period. The visitors knocked in a loose puck with 3:44 left for the game-winner.
