ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team was voted to finish fifth out of nine team in the annual Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) Preseason Poll of the conference coaches that was released by the conference office on Wednesday.
The Dutchmen received 35 points after finishing sixth in the conference standings a year ago. LVC dropped a hard-fought 50-44 decision at third-seeded York College of Pennsylvania in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament. Defending conference champion Messiah University topped the poll with 63 points and seven first place votes. Last year's runner-up, Widener University, was second with 49 points. Albright College and York each garnered 46 points to tie for third with the Lions receiving the last two first place votes.
Lebanon Valley was slated fifth ahead of Stevenson University in sixth with 31 points. Alvernia University was picked seventh with 29 points while Eastern University was eighth with 15 points. Hood College rounded out the poll with 10 points.
The Dutchmen will begin the season on November 8 at Misericordia and then will open the final season of MAC Commonwealth play on November 30 hosting Albright College.
