Dutchmen Volleyball Earns Split At Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. – Kelli Heffer had 17 kills to fuel a 3-2 victory over Mount Aloysius for the Lebanon Valley volleyball team as the Dutchmen went 1-1 on Saturday at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster. The host Chargers defeated the Dutchmen 3-1 in the first match of the day.

LBC got off to a good start in front of a large home crowd winning the first set 25-22. The Dutchmen fought right back and evened the match up with a 25-14 victory in set two. Lancaster Bible retook the lead with a very close 25-21 win in set three and then won the fourth set 25-14.
 
Inside the Box Score Game 2 vs. Mount Aloysius
Lebanon Valley won the first set 25-17 before the Mounties took the next two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-13. The Dutchmen rallied to win the fourth set 25-23 and then rode a hot start to the fifth set for a 15-11 victory.

  • Heffer and Mattea Penner led the attack with double-digit kills each. Heffer hit .341 with 17 kills and Penner added 11 kills and four service aces. Penner also played great defense with 17 digs.
  • Margaret Cole had nine kills and two block assists while Barth made 35 assists.
  • Rill led the team with 23 digs while Souder made 19.
  • Stepler had three of the team's 12 service aces.

The Dutchmen will return to conference play on Wednesday evening with a big match against Stevenson University at 7 p.m. inside Sorrentino Gymnasium.
