How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – In game one of the 2021 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Semifinal round, the Flying Dutchmen scored three times in the seventh inning to pull away from and defeat Alvernia 5-2.
LVC quickly got on the board in the top of the first thanks to
Michael Leri's RBI-single to left field. Then, in the bottom of the second,
Conor Smith's sacrifice fly made it 2-0 in favor of the home team. From there,
Kyle Kingsbury continued to deal on the mound and held Alvernia scoreless after getting out of several jams throughout his time on the mound.
In the sixth, Kingsbury ran into some trouble and the Golden Wolves finally broke through, but
Hunter Tipton relieved Kingsbury and on his first pitch, he induced a double play and limited the damage.
In the bottom of the seventh, LVC tacked on some insurance runs for Tipton and plated three runs. Tipton allowed an unearned run in the ninth, but LVC held on for the 5-2 victory.

Bryan Towers went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI.
- Kingsbury picked up his sixth win of the season after tossing 5.1 innings and allowing just one run with five strikeouts.
- Tipton picked up his third save of the season after throwing the final 3.2 innings. He gave up just two hits and struck out one.

How It Happened
In game two, Alvernia's Michael Simmerman stifled LVC's offense and the Golden Wolves stayed alive after downing LVC 7-2. The Golden Wolves' victory set up a winner-take-all contest tomorrow afternoon at Alvernia.
In the top of the second, the visitors took a 2-0 lead off of Joe Ginder's two-RBI double to right center. Simmerman continued to dominate on the bump, and in the top of the eighth, the Golden Wolves extended their lead thanks to Billy Dougar's two-RBI triple to right center.
The Dutchmen got one back in the bottom of the eighth off
Ryan Murphy's RBI-single that scored
Nico Santoro, but Alvernia responded when Mike Ramundo hit a two-RBI double to center in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Tanner Rock suffered his first loss of the season on the mound despite tossing seven innings and allowing just two earned runs with three strikeouts.

Who's Next?
LVC and Alvernia will meet tomorrow in Reading at noon with a trip to the MAC Commonwealth Championships against York on the line.
