How It Happened
YORK, Pa. – In game one of the 2021 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Baseball Championship Series, York (Pa.) used a three-run eighth inning to pull away from and defeat Lebanon Valley by a 7-3 score.

The Flying Dutchmen got off to a great start and tagged Brandon Haggerty, the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Year, for three runs in the top of the first, beginning with Michael Leri's two-RBI double to right-center that scored Chris DeClerico and Bryan Towers. Later in the inning, Nico Santoro's fly ball to center brought home Leri to extend LVC's advantage to 3-0.

Haggerty shut down the Dutchmen from there and didn't allow a run for the remainder of his time on the mound. In the bottom of the second, Brandon White's single brought out Jimmy Wiegers to make it 3-1, and then in the bottom of the third, Jack Berry, the NCAA DIII leader in home runs this season, launched a solo shot over the right field fence to make it 3-2.

In the bottom of the sixth, Barry hurt the Dutchmen again, this time with a two-run home run to left field to give the Spartans a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the eighth, York earned three insurance runs and put the game out of reach, resulting in the 7-3 victory.

Inside the Numbers
 - Conor Smith went 2-for-4 at the dish.
 - Towers, DeClerico, and Leri each had one hit and scored a run.
 - Kyle Kingsbury got the start on the mound and went six innings. He scattered eight hits allowed three earned runs and struck out eight batters.

How It Happened
In game two of the Championship Series, the Spartans took advantage of a few LVC errors in the bottom of the eighth to break the 4-4 tie and eventually give York the 5-4 victory to win the MAC Commonwealth Title. The Dutchmen's season came to an end with a 21-12 record, while the Spartans improved to 28-6 and will compete in the NCAA Tournament in two weeks.

The home squad jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after scoring a run in the second inning and then three more in the third. In the top of the fourth, LVC began to chip away when TJ Holdredge reached on an error that allowed DeClerico to score. Then, in the top of the seventh, the Dutchmen made it a 4-2 game with DeClerico's RBI-single that plated Luke Blair.

With two outs in the top of the eighth, Ryan Murphy singled through the left side, followed by Blair's base on balls. After the two runners advanced a base on a passed ball, Towers hit a key double down the right field line to score both runners and tie things up at 4-4.

In the bottom of the eighth, however, two errors in the field allowed pinch runner George Mendoza to score to give the Spartans a 5-4 lead. Miller was able to retire the Dutchmen in order in the top of the ninth to preserve the one-run win.

Inside the Numbers
 - Towers and DeClerico finished with two hits apiece.
 - Tanner Rock went six innings and allowed three runs, but struck out a career-high 11 batters.
 - Hunter Tipton tossed two innings of relief and allowed no earned runs and struck out a pair.
 - Once again, Barry led York's offense with three hits, while Jayden Cowan and Wiegers each registered a pair of hits.

Season Notes
 - LVC advanced to the conference championship this season for the first time since 2002.
 - The Dutchmen amassed 21 wins on the season, the most wins for LVC in one season since the Dutchmen won 24 back in 2012.
