How It Happened
ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Lacrosse team had their 2021 season come to an end as they fell 24-4 to Eastern University in the MAC Commonwealth quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. LVC ends the season with a 5-8 record while the Eagles improve to 9-4 and advance to the conference semifinals.
The Eagles started off the game with six unanswered goals carrying over into the second quarter while keeping the Dutchmen offense of the scoreboard. LVC trailed 6-0 when
Jake Bollinger got LVC on the board with 11:26 remaining in the first half. A few minutes later,
Jack Kapcsos and
Evan Crawford would add goals but the Dutchmen would surrender eight Eagle goals in the final 8:07 of the half and trailed 15-3 at intermission.
The Eagles would control play in the second half, outscoring LVC 9-1 in the final 30 minutes to knock LVC out of the playoffs by a 24-4 score.
Alex Kiviniemi would score the lone second half goal for the Dutchmen.
Inside The Numbers
- Four different Dutchmen scored - Jake Bollinger, Jack Kapcsos, Evan Crawford, and Alex Kiviniemi.
- Nicholas Fanelli led Eastern with six goals and two assists followed by Kyle Fanelli who finished with four goals and two assists.
- The Dutchmen were outshot 52-30.
- Eastern went 14-for-15 on clears while LVC struggled going 9-for-22.
- The Eagles held a 21-10 edge in faceoffs.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen have concluded their 2021 campaign and will say goodbye and thank you to their seniors and will return to Arnold Field next season.
