How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson University pulled away from Lebanon Valley late in the second half to earn a 19-14 win over the Dutchmen on Wednesday night in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth action. LVC slipped to 4-4, 2-2 MACC and the Mustangs improved to 8-1, 3-1 MACC.

The Dutchmen jumped out to a quick 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Erin Zieber and Emily Beard with 25:34 remaining in the first half, but Stevenson quickly answered with three straight and took a 4-2 advantage with 20:19 left. LVC stopped the bleeding and responded with four straight goals, all from different players, to take a 6-4 lead. During that spurt, Beard, Jaclyn Little, Bailey Dills, and Brittany Hathaway all found the back of the net and Veronica Venezia assisted on three of the four goals in the run.

After the Mustangs netted two straight to even the game at 6-6 with 10:20 to go in the opening half, Hathaway, Dills, and Venezia scored in the span of less than three minutes to give the visiting Dutchmen a 9-6 advantage. Stevenson, however, finished the first half on a 5-0 run, including a goal at the buzzer, to take an 11-9 lead into halftime.

Things were back-and-forth in the early stages of the second half as neither team was able to pull away. After Hathaway brought LVC to within a goal at 12-11 with 17:44 to go, the Mustangs netted two straight to go up 14-11. Dills then scored her 13th of the season, but Stevenson's Caroline Murphy scored two consecutive goals to increase her team's lead to 16-12. LVC was still within striking distance, however, after Sydney Zimmerman's goal made it 16-13 with 5:04 to go, but the Mustangs again answered with two consecutive goals and went on to win 19-14.
