ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis dropped their first contest of the season in a close 5-4 match to Messiah University on Wednesday afternoon. LVC now sits at 5-1, 2-1 MACC while the Falcons improve to 5-2, 3-1 MACC.
In doubles play, LVC picked up one win that came at #2 doubles.
Jeffrey Bauer and
Brendan Byler edged out their competition 8-4 for the lone doubles victory for the Dutchmen.
Jonathan Yenser and
William Harriger narrowly missed picking up a second win at #3 doubles but fell 8-7 (7-2) in a tiebreaker.
In singles action, the two teams each won three matches, giving Messiah the eventual 5-4 victory. The Falcons took the top three singles matches while LVC was victorious in #4, #5, and #6 singles play. At fourth singles, Bauer won a marathon match that saw the match go three sets after he fell in the second set in a tiebreaker. In the final set, Bauer won 10-7 to pick up the match victory.
Nicholas Simon won at #5 singles in straight sets after winning the opening set in a tiebreaker as well. Yenser wrapped up the Dutchmen wins with a stress-free 6-1, 6-1 victory.
