How It Happened
ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Lebanon Valley got back in the win column after easily defeating Eastern University 24-5 on Thursday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Women's Lacrosse action. The Flying Dutchmen, who tied the program record for the most goals in one game, improved to 5-5, 3-3 MACC, while the Eagles dropped to 1-8, 0-7 MACC.
 
LVC quickly got on the board when Sydney Zimmerman scored from Brittany Hathaway just 2:07 in the game. Erin Zieber then netted her eighth of the season, followed by Hathaway's goal at 27:28. The Dutchmen continued to pour it on with Veronica Venezia's down goal and Livia Jackson netted her seventh of the season at 23:20 to put LVC up 5-0. The Dutchmen went on to net four more until Eastern was able to finally find the back of the net at 19:36 to make it a 9-1 score.
 
LVC responded with five consecutive goals, including two from Hathaway, but at 6:07 of the opening half, the Eagles' Carly Burns stopped the spurt, however the visiting Dutchmen still held a comfortable 14-2 advantage. From there, Jaclyn Little scored her 22nd goal of the season and later, Kate Baker scored her first goal of the season to give LVC a dominant 16-3 lead at halftime.
 
Eastern opened up the second half with back-to-back tallies, but Zieber scored at 26:53 to make it a 17-5 game. From there, LVC's defense took over and didn't allow the Eagles to find the back of the net again en route to a 24-5 thrashing.
 
Inside the Numbers
 - LVC tied the program record for goals at 24, a feat that the team accomplished earlier this season against Lycoming.
 - 10 different Dutchmen netted at least one goal this afternoon.
 - Julia Abendschoen got the win in net for LVC after allowing three goals in the first half. Shelby Guinard played the second half and made four saves and allowed just a pair of goals.
 - Sydney Zimmerman stuffed the stat sheet, going for four goals and six assists for 10 points.
 - Veronica John also netted four goals, a new career high.
 - Zieber ended with four goals and two assists for six points. She also controlled a pair of draws.
 - Hathaway went for four goals and two assists as well and controlled a game-high eight draws.
 - Aubrey DiMaio scored her first career goal.
 - Venezia scored two goals and added six assists for eight points. She added a pair of ground balls and six draw controls.
 - Livia Jackson picked up a team-best four ground balls, caused a turnover, and scored a goal.
 - Hayley Cowles, Anna Lougee, Venezia, and Neff each scooped up two ground balls apiece, while Neff caused two turnovers.
 - LVC held the overwhelming edge in shots (40-18).
 - The Dutchmen were 13-for-15 in clears and Eastern went 8-for-11.
 - LVC dominated in draw controls at 21-10.
 
Playoff Picture
With two conference games remaining, LVC (3-3) currently sits in fifth in the MAC Commonwealth standings.
 
Who's Next?
LVC returns home on Saturday when the Dutchmen host No. 15 Messiah on Senior Night at 6 p.m.
