How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's Women's Lacrosse team outscored King's (Pa.) 13-3 in the first half en route to a 19-9 victory over the Monarchs in each teams' 2021 opener on Saturday morning. The Flying Dutchmen jumped to 1-0, while King's dropped to 0-1.
 
It was all LVC in the first 15 minutes of the opening half, beginning with Brittany Hathaway's unassisted goal just over three minutes into the game. Bailey Dills followed it up less than two minutes later with her first of the season, followed by Veronica Venezia's tally five minutes that made it a 3-0 game early.
 
15 seconds later, Hathaway netted her second of the game off an assist from Venezia and Jaclyn Little found the back of the net just over a minute later to make it a 5-0 score. Hathaway then netted another and Erin Zieber scored her first of the young season before Hathaway netted yet another score for the 8-0 Dutchmen lead. Then, at 18:09, Emily Beard scored her first collegiate goal, and two minutes later, Little added her second of the half, increasing LVC's advantage to 10-0. With 13:31 left in the first,
 
King's finally stopped the bleeding after Natasha Koslop scored, but Little and Sydney Zimmerman went back-to-back to extend the Dutchmen's lead to 12-1. The Monarchs answered with a pair of goals at 6:17 and 3:01, but with 25 seconds remaining in the half, Venezia scored an unassisted goal, making it a 13-3 game heading into the second half.
 
The Dutchmen began second-half action on fire, starting with Veronica John's goal at 27:46. Venezia added her third of the game just under two minutes later, and Hathaway then scored her fifth of the game at 24:20 for the 16-4 advantage. LVC continued to cruise for the remainder of the game, despite the Monarchs ending the game on a 4-0 run.
 
Inside the Numbers
 - Brittany Hathaway led the offense with five goals and four assists for nine points. She added a game-high six draw controls.
 - Veronica Venezia scored three goals and had a game-high five assists.
 - Jaclyn Little scored three goals and controlled three draws.
 - Veronica John netted two goals on three shots.
 - Livia Jackson caused a game-high four turnovers, scooped up two ground balls, scored one goal, and controlled a pair of draws.
 - Bailey Dills scored a goal and controlled four draws while scooping up two ground balls.
 - Emily Beard picked up a team-high three ground balls, controlled three draws, and scored a goal for the Dutchmen.
 - Koslop led King's offensively with three goals.
 - Julia Abendschoen picked up the win for LVC after making a pair of stops in net.
 - The Dutchmen dominated in shots (35-15) and shots on goal (30-11).
 - King's committed 22 turnovers on the day, and the Dutchmen turned it over just eight times.
 - LVC went 12-for-13 in clears and the Monarchs were 11-for-20.
 - The Dutchmen also led in ground balls at 17-15.
 
Who's Next?
Non-conference action continues for LVC next Saturday, March 13, when the Dutchmen travel to Madison, N.J. to take on FDU-Florham at 3 p.m.
