ANNVILLE Pa. – The Lebanon Valley softball team dropped a pair of conference games to Stevenson University on Sunday afternoon. The Dutchmen dropped the opener 5-2 before falling 13-5 in six innings in the nightcap. At the end of the day, LVC fell to 3-4, 3-4 MACC while Stevenson improves to 9-3, 6-2 MACC.
In game one, Stevenson opened up the scoring right away in the first inning by taking advantage of some LVC miscues to plate a pair of runs. The Mustangs used an infield single and a groundout to score the two runs and jump ahead early over LVC.
The Mustangs would double their lead in the top half of the fourth with another two runs. Fulton would lead off the frame with a single followed by an LVC error the following batter to put the first two runners aboard. After a successful sacrifice bunt, Stark would single to right field to bring home the two runs. The Dutchmen would respond in the bottom of the inning with a pair of runs of their own. Jessica Triutt would rip a double down the left-field line to bring in
Lindsey McCurdy for the first run followed by a
Mandi Armstrong single to plate Kyle Balthaser and LVC was back down just two at 4-2.
The Mustangs would tack on an insurance run in the sixth frame when Briles was played by a Fulton RBI-double to center. Stevenson would continue to threaten with two runners in scoring position with just one out but would be left stranded but LVC trailed 5-2 with two at-bats remaining. LVC went down in order in the bottom of the sixth but would bring the tying run to the plate in the seventh but would be unable to score as they fell 5-2.
Inside The Numbers
- Jessica Truitt and Mandi Armstrong each recorded two hits for the Dutchmen. The two also tallied the only RBI in game one for LVC.
- Jordan Walter tossed all seven innings allowing just one earned run and striking out three.
- Haley Monahan tossed a complete-game for Stevenson allowing no earned runs.
- Morghan Fulton led the Mustang offense with two hits and two RBI.

The Mustang offense was clicking early in often in the nightcap as they recorded seven goals in a three-inning span to open up a 7-0 lead after four innings over LVC.
The Dutchmen would get on the board in the bottom of the fifth plating a trio of runs to crawl their way back in the game. The scoring would start when Balthaser scored off a
Tori Hunyara single up the middle. The Dutchmen would tack on a second run off a McCurdy sacrifice fly that plated
Sarah Musselman. The final run of the frame for LVC would come via an
Alyssa Hamilton double down the right-field line to bring home Hunyara to cut the deficit to four.
Stevenson would respond in a huge way in the top half of the sixth as they put together a six-run frame to push their advantage to double digits at 13-3. The Mustang bats knocked five hits to plate the six runs with the big blow coming from a three-run double by Fangman. LVC would look to prolong the game in the bottom of the inning and would score a pair of runs on a two-run Hunyara triple but that would be all they could muster as they would fall 13-5.

- Tori Hunyara led LVC's offense with a pair of hits including a triple to go along with three RBI.
- Alyssa Hamilton, Mandi Armstrong, and Sarah Musselman all added a pair of hits.
- Stevenson pumped out 14 hits, including three triples and were led by Fangman and Briles who each had three RBI.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen are back in action on Saturday when they host Alvernia in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at LVC Softball Park.
