How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team used a huge first quarter to help propel them to a 56-54 victory over Stevenson in the 2021 regular season finale. LVC finished the regular season with a 3-7 record while the Mustangs fell to 4-6.

LVC came out of the gates firing on all cylinders as they racked up 24 points in the first ten minutes of play. The Dutchmen shot 50% from the floor in the first quarter and needed all their points to stay in front of a Stevenson offense who put up 18 points of their own. LVC trailed 13-11 midway through the quarter but would end the frame on a 13-5 run to lead 24-18 after one.

The Mustangs would buckle down on the defensive end in the second holding the Dutchmen to just eight points. Stevenson opened the period on an 11-0 run to push a lead out to five. LVC would crawl back to within a point after a Sofia Bowers jumper with just 11 ticks left in the half to pull LVC within a point at the intermission.

Emily Mealey would come out of the locker room aggressive scoring the first nine points of the third quarter swinging the lead back in LVC's favor at 41-33. The teams would trade buckets the remainder of the quarter with LVC holding onto a slim 45-43 lead headed into the fourth.

The fourth quarter was tight, played within six points, with the largest lead being LVC 54-48. With both offenses stalling, Kennedy stepped up to the foul line with 18 seconds to go and the Dutchmen up a pair, and she would knock down both free throws to seal the 56-54 win for LVC.
