M. Hoops Uses Big Second Half to Cruise by Stevenson

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Basketball team ran away from Stevenson with a dominant second half to top the Mustangs 71-54 in MAC Commonwealth play on Wednesday evening. The Dutchmen improve to 5-4, 2-1 MACC on the season while the Mustangs drop to 6-3, 1-2 MACC.

How It Happened
  • The first half was tightly contested throughout with neither team able to get much of an advantage over the other. The Dutchmen grabbed their largest lead with 7:36 before the half when they led 30-22.
  • Stevenson would claw back into the game before intermission as they closed the half on an 11-4 run by LVC would hold on to a slim 34-33 lead at the break.
  • Out of halftime, LVC opened up a quick a 7-0 run to push their lead back up to eight. After a Stevenson three-point play, The Dutchmen went on another run, this one a 10-0 spurt, with six points coming from Evin Timochenko to give LVC their first double-digit lead of the evening at 51-36 with 13:12 to play.
  • The Dutchmen put their foot down on the gas for the remainder of the contest as they never let Stevenson pull the game back to within single digits. LVC would knock down all their free throws down the stretch as they coasted to the 71-54 victory.
Inside The Numbers
  • Evin Timochenko finished with a career-high 28 points on 12-of-16 shooting from the field. He also grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots.
  • Zach Tucker added 18 points while dishing out eight assists.
  • LVC shot 52% from the floor, including 56.5% in the second half. Stevenson shot just 36.9% for the game and was held to just 30% shooting in the second frame.
  • LVC outrebounded the Mustangs 34-27.
  • The Dutchmen knocked down all 13 of their free throws while Stevenson was just 2-for-5 from the line.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen remain home for their name contest as they host Messiah this Saturday afternoon. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Sorrentino Gymnasium.
