ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Soccer had their 2021 campaign come to a close at the hands of the York (Pa.) Spartans as the Dutchmen fell 2-0 in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals at Herbert Field on Thursday afternoon.

How It Happened
  • In the semifinal matchup between the Dutchmen and the Spartans, it was York who controlled a majority of play in the first half, outshooting LVC 9-2 in the first 45 minutes. The Spartans kept LVC held down in their own defensive half for most of the half but the Dutchmen defense would hold on to not allow a Spartan goal. York would hit the post three times, Jocelyn Umana made three saves, and Jessica Lingenfelter made a pair of saves herself on the goal line to keep the scoreless tie into halftime.
  • In the second half, the Spartans finally broke through the stingy Dutchmen defense when Jenna Terenchin floated a shot from the left wing perfectly into the far-right side of the goal to put York ahead 1-0 in the 49th minute.
  • The Dutchmen would put together some dangerous opportunities of their own in the second half including a shot from 30 yards out by Alyssa Yoder that hit the top corner of the cross bar.
  • At the 72:44 mark, Makalya Harper would hit a one-time shot off Caitlyn Findlay's second assist to double the Spartan lead with an important insurance goal. The Dutchmen would be unable to get on the board on the Spartan defense as they fell 2-0.
Inside The Numbers
  • Jocelyn Umana made four saves in net for the Dutchmen.
  • The two teams each fired off 13 shots, York holding a slim 8-6 advantage of shots on target.
  • The Dutchmen finished with seven corner kick opportunities while York had four.
Who's Next?
