READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's Field Hockey fell 2-1 to Alvernia in the MAC Commonwealth playoffs first round on Monday night. The Dutchmen's season comes to an end, finishing with a 9-10 overall record while the Golden Wolves are 9-10 and will advance to the semifinal round to face Messiah.
How It Happened
- The Dutchmen would kick off the scoring in this semifinal matchup when Lexi Ward found the back of the net at the 9:19 mark of the opening quarter. The Dutchmen would maintain that lead the rest of the period.
- After most of the second quarter went scoreless, Alvernia would score on a deflected shot with just 1:13 remaining in the first half. The two teams would go into intermission tied 1-1, with 30 minutes left for a spot in the conference semifinals.
- Following a scoreless third quarter, Alvernia would grab their first lead of the contest just 48 seconds into the final frame. The Dutchmen offense would struggle to get any momentum in the fourth, managing just one shot in the final 15 minutes and would fall 2-1.
Inside The Numbers
- Lexi Ward netted her fourth goal of the season and finished the year tied for the team lead with 11 points.
- Corinne Kearney made five saves in between the pipes for LVC.
- The Golden Wolves outshot the Dutchmen 12-6 and 7-4 on target.
- Alvernia finished with six penalty corners while the Dutchmen had four corner opportunities.

The Dutchmen Field Hockey team's 2021 has come to a close. LVC will return to action next Fall.
