FREDERICK, Md. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Soccer team overcame a halftime deficit to top Hood College 2-1 on Saturday night in MAC Commonwealth action. The Dutchmen improve to 12-3, 5-2 MACC while the Blazers fall to 8-7-1, 1-5 MACC. LVC also clinched a spot in the MAC Commonwealth playoffs with the win.

How It Happened
  • Despite LVC controlling a majority of the play in the first half, it was Hood who got on the scoreboard first in the 12th minute. Jaylen Poisal would find the back of the net to put LVC behind early in the contest. The Dutchmen would outshoot the Blazers 10-4 in the first half but only put a pair of shots on target and would go into intermission trailing 1-0.
  • The Dutchmen would come out in the second half as waste little time pulling back even. Aaron Weitzel would find the back of the net just 3:52 into the second half to tie the game up 1-1.
  • In the 77th minute, Kurtis Rineer would find Braydon Shuck who was able to beat the Blazer goalkeeper and give LVC their first lead of the contest with just over 13 minutes left in regulation. The Dutchmen defense would hold the lead as LVC picked up a hard-fought 2-1 win on the road.
Inside The Numbers
  • Aaron Weitzel's equalizer was his fifth goal of the season, good for second most on the team.
  • Braydon Shuck picked up his second goal of the year of Kurtis Rineer's third assist on the season.
  • Sean Quirk made three saves to pick up the win.
  • The Dutchmen outshot the Blazers 25-6 and 8-5 on target.
  • LVC held a 7-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen will take on No. 17 Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday their next time out in a rescheduled contest from earlier this season. Game time in Lancaster, Pa. is set for 7 p.m.
