How It Happened
CLERMONT, Fla. – Moravian used four runs in the first two innings to down LVC in the Dutchmen's first game of the day. LVC rallied late but came up just short by a 5-3 score.
Moravian jumped on the Dutchmen early by putting up a three-spot in the first inning to put LVC in an early hole. Alex Agrapides led off with a single followed by another single by Brooke Wehr to set the table for Maddisen Bieber. Bieber would get ahold of one putting the ball of the left-field fence to put Moravian ahead 3-0 after just four batters. Moravian would add another run in the second inning to push out their led to four.
The LVC offense was held in check before getting their first hits in the bottom of the third. The Dutchmen had two runners on base in the inning but were unable to get that clutch hit to get on the board. Moravian would add another insurance run in the fourth on an Agrapides RBI-single that put the Dutchmen down 5-0 with three innings to play.
The Dutchmen would start to crawl back in the game in the top of the sixth after scoring three runs.
Kate Whelski led off the inning with a homer to left-center to get LVC on the board. A few batters later,
Julia Forsythe launched one out to left and the Dutchmen were back within two. LVC would bring the tying run to the plate in the seventh but their rally would come up just short as they fell 5-3.
Inside the Numbers
- The Dutchmen hit their first two home runs of the season as Kate Whelski and Julia Forsythe each launched homers in the game. The homer was Forsythe's first of her career.
- Each offense collected eight hits in the game.
- Victoria McClain tossed five innings, allowing four earned runs, and striking out a pair for LVC.
- Meghan Bauer picked up the win for Moravian with 5.1 innings and two strikeouts.

How It Happened
LVC dropped an 8-3 contest against John Carroll in their second game of the day on Friday afternoon. The Dutchmen fall to 3-5 with the two losses today while John Carroll is now 5-5.
After a pair of scoreless innings to start the game, the Blue Streaks would get on the board in a big way with four runs in the third inning. John Carroll got back-to-back doubles from Emma Gurley and Kristen Jesberger to bring home the four runs. LVC would get two runs back in the bottom half of the frame to cut the deficit in half.

Annie McClain bringing the score to 4-2 after three innings.
In the top of the fourth, the Blue Streaks got another run back to push their lead back out to three. In the fifth, Jesberger would line a two-run homer to centerfield to put JCU up 7-2. A single to left by Forsythe would bring home McClain in the bottom half of the fifth to bring LVC within four. One final run by the Blue Streaks in the top of the sixth would push the lead back up to five and the score would remain 8-3 for the final two innings as LVC fell in the second game of the day.
Inside the Numbers
- Julia Forsythe and Annie McClain each picked up three hits for the Dutchmen offense. Forsythe knocked in a pair of runs while McClain scored twice and stole three bases as well.
- Jen Kaufman also picked up a pair of hits for LVC.
- Emma Gurley and Kristen Jesberger led the JCU offense with two hits and three RBI apiece.
- LVC narrowly outhit the Blue Streaks 11-10 for the game.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen will wrap up their Florida trip tomorrow with two finals games. LVC will begin early with a 9:15 a.m. start against John Jay followed by a matchup with Johnson & Wales (R.I.) at 1:30 p.m. at the Hancock Recreational Complex.
