HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team split a pair of matches as they opened up their spring season in Hilton Head, S.C. The Dutchmen fell 9-0 to Spring Arbor (Mich.) before topping Roanoke 5-4 in the nightcap.
The Dutchmen dropped a 9-0 contest to Spring Arbor (Mich.) University in the season opener. The #2 double group of
Reed Morris and
Nicholas Balaci dropped a tough 8-6 match. Morris also had the best singles match of the day at the #4 position as the match went to a third set before Morris eventually fell 12-10.

In the second matchup of the day, the Dutchmen edged out Roanoke 5-4 in a marathon of a match. The lights at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center turn off automatically at 10 p.m. and
Blake Martin won the final match to give the Dutchmen the win at 9:57 p.m. to beat not only the Maroons, but also the clock.
LVC won the #2 and #3 doubles matches with the pairings off Martin/
Reed Morris and
Ben Hinkley/
Luke Senft respectively. The teams split the six singles matches with Martin, Hinkley, and Senft picking up individual wins.
Hinkley picked up a win at #5 singles 6-4, 6-4 while Senft cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #6 singles. At #2 singles, Martin won a tough three-setter to eventually win the match for the Dutchmen. After dropping the first set, Martin took set two 7-5 and then won the tiebreaker set 10-6.

The Flying Dutchmen are back in action tomorrow for a pair of matches to wrap up their southern trip. LVC will open up the day at 10 a.m. taking on Drew University before battling it out with Eastern Nazarene College at 6 p.m.
