How It Happened
GRANTHAM, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's basketball team had their fourth-quarter rally come up short as they fell to the 24th-ranked Messiah Falcons 54-46 on Tuesday afternoon. The Dutchmen outscored Messiah 15-9 in the final frame but could not overcome the double-digit deficit.
The Dutchmen would have a tough time in the opening half getting anything going on the offensive end as they were held to just 16 points, eight in each quarter, and shot just 33.3% from the field. The Falcons converted on just under 50% of their shots in the first half and had the Dutchmen doubled up at the intermission, 32-16.
LVC would find some success in the third quarter as they slightly edged out Messiah in the period 15-13. The Dutchmen trailed by 19 points with 5:41 left in the third before LVC would rattle off nine straight points, the first eight from
Kennedy Kuffa, to cut the lead to 10. Messiah would convert a pair of layups in the final minute to push their advantage back up to 14 with one quarter to play.
The Dutchmen shot over 50%, 13-24, from the field in the second half and would battle to get the game back to within single digits when it was 48-39 with 5:11 left in regulation. LVC would only get as close as eight in the final minute as they would fall in their final road contest of the season to the nationally-ranked Falcons.
