How It Happened
FREDERICK, Md. –

Similar to these teams' last meeting, Hood got off to a hot start and opened up an 8-4 advantage off Michael Riley's triple with 17:10 remaining in the opening half. LVC quickly closed the gap and evened the game at 10-10 thanks to a 6-0 spurt at 13:44. The Dutchmen continued to keep things close and
Joe Wright's layup at 9:28 made it a one-point lead in favor of the Blazers at 17-16, but one of the conference's most successful 3-point-shooting squad got hot from beyond the arc, as Mason Wang dropped a triple, followed by Christopher Small's make from 3-point land, quickly putting the home team ahead 23-16 at 7:58. From there, the Blazers went on to lead by as many as 15 in the final minutes of the first, but four straight points by the Dutchmen in the final 1:39 cut into Hood's advantage, and LVC found itself down by just 11 at 38-27 at halftime.
To open up second-half action, Jones quickly cut the Blazers' lead to single digits with a layup at 19:16, however Hood answered with a 9-1 run that spanned two minutes of action to take a 47-31 advantage with 16:50 to go. The Blazers continued to hold a double-digit lead for the remainder of the second half and never relinquished their advantage. The Dutchmen went cold from beyond the arc and were unable to get close, resulting in the 79-70 defeat.
